What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry focuses on the aesthetic improvement of the appearance of the teeth (teeth whitening, composite resin veneers, porcelain veneers, implants, etc.), the gums and the patient’s bite, while maintaining the basic principles of classical dentistry, in order to achieve the perfect smile.
The services of cosmetic dentistry as offered by our dental clinic and our dentists are: |

Teeth whitening
The color of teeth is not the same for all people. Many people have dark teeth from birth, while in others the teeth darken due to diet, medication, smoking or trauma. Age is also an important factor. Teeth whitening is a technique through which we achieve improvement of the color of the teeth and their brightness. |
| |
|
| |
| In which cases it is applied: |
In teeth that are yellow from childhood |
In neighboring teeth, before the placement of a prosthetic work (e.g. a porcelain bridge) so that the bridge can be constructed in a lighter color |
When someone desires a conservative treatment in order to improve their appearance |
In tooth discoloration from tetracycline intake |
In tooth discoloration from excessive fluoride absorption |
In tooth discoloration from nicotine |
In tooth discoloration from foods that cause staining |
In stains from fluorosis |
In color change related to pulp trauma and necrosis |
In superficial or intense and absorbed stains |

| Composite resin veneers |

Resin Veneers - Bonding
They are thin coverings (shells) made of resin. With resin veneers - Bonding you can improve your teeth, intervene in shape and color, painlessly, without anesthesia with the help of composite resins in the most conservative way of modern cosmetic dentistry. That is, the teeth are simply “roughened” or in some cases slightly ground, without grinding a large amount of enamel. |
| |
|
| Then they are “built” into the desired shape, closing gaps, covering large discolored fillings, “blocking” for aesthetic reasons dark devitalized front teeth, and correcting crooked teeth when the candidate does not want to undergo orthodontic treatment, which is also the first treatment of choice. |

Composite resin fillings or White fillings
Most patients now request white fillings so that the material resembles the color of the tooth. The material used is composite resin which allows a variety of shades for the restoration of the tooth. |

| Inlays – Onlays |
| |
| |
Inlays – Onlays
These are large fillings in extent that are made in the dental laboratory when a large part of the tooth is missing and are used instead of crowns and posts when a large part of the tooth has been destroyed. The material used is either resin or porcelain. Their advantages are that they last longer over time compared to simple fillings and that they have less shrinkage – polymerization contraction. |
| |
|
Onlays
In some cases where our teeth are very damaged, onlays are used in order to avoid the use of a crown. Onlays are large fillings that are made in the laboratory and are bonded onto the teeth.
The advantage of making an onlay is that the tooth avoids the crown and the post (screw in the root) that is placed to support the crown. |

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells that require minimal or no grinding and are used to correct possible aesthetic problems and are made in the dental laboratory.
Porcelain veneers are permanently bonded to the front part of the teeth. Unlike crowns which are full coverage (the whole tooth is ground), veneers are partial coverage restorations since they do not cover the entire tooth. Therefore, with veneers minimal or no intervention (grinding) of the teeth is required. |

|
| |
| Advantages of porcelain veneers: |
We can close large gaps between teeth. |
We can correct/restore the shape of broken or worn teeth. |
There is no dark line on the gums as with metal-porcelain crowns. |
We can create a permanently bright smile in combination with teeth whitening. |
We can correct intense discolorations and differences in the texture of the teeth. |
They are more durable over time than resin build-ups, resin veneers or whitening. |
We can correct crooked teeth without the need for orthodontics. |
